Creators' Club Sunday - August

12th August 2025

At this month’s Creators’ Club Sunday, we will be celebrating the wondrous gecko.

From 11 am-2 pm on Sunday, 31 August, children will be given the opportunity to create their own reptilian friends and take them home afterwards.

During this FREE activity, kids can choose how big they would like their gecko to be, what shade of skin tone it will have, and even the colour of its eyes.

Did you know that there are at least 44 species of native geckos, with many more awaiting discovery? From mountain ranges to a messy backyard, geckos live all over New Zealand. These are just two of the fun facts families will learn about these fascinating creatures when they come along to the club.

As this activity includes small parts to be used for the geckos’ eyes, it is not suitable for children under five. However, for the littlies among us, they can still make a gecko and draw on the eyes instead, or design one on paper using the great Giotto pens, pencils, and templates provided.

If you already have a Creators’ Club passport, don’t forget to bring this with you and collect your sticker for August. Or, if you haven’t joined this group of young imagineers yet, speak to the friendly team on the day, and they will be happy tell you all about it.

We look forward to seeing you at the Golden Centre’s Creators’ Club, where everyone is welcome.
