Looking for FREE School Holiday Fun
Here at the Golden Centre during these July school holidays, we are celebrating all-things nature!
Our newly created Imagination Station, located in Centre Court next to Boost, will present a range of FREE activities that children, together with their parents or guardians, can enjoy.*
Each child who visits the Imagination Station will also be given a free native seedling to plant and nurture. Take a look at what’s in-store.
Floral Story Art
For children who love to draw, choosing some of the items we have collected from nature and creating pictures that tell stories is a wonderful imaginative past time. Each child can either take their picture home or display on our Story Board for all to see.
Pebble Painting
For promising painters, adorning pebbles with vibrant colours are bound to lead to some beautiful natural designs being brought to life. Pebbles are taken home to brighten up the garden during the cold winter months.
Pine Cone Fairies
For lovers of fantasy, helping to grow Dunedin’s pine cone fairy community will be sure to encourage imaginative minds to roam free. Photos of the little wonders will be displayed at the Imagination Station before they head off on their new adventures with their makers.
Majestic Mural Making
For budding naturalists, drawing, colouring in or designing images of birds and butterflies native to Otago can build on the majesty of our renowned Golden Centre mural. As this tells the story of how the plants we add to our local gardens attracts wildlife, children can inspire others through their art.
All activities will be available to enjoy at the Imagination Station from 11am-1pm on
Monday: 8 and 15 July
Wednesday: 10 and 17 July
Friday: 12 and 19 July
*Children must be supervised by accompanying adults or guardians at all times. Places are available on a first come, first served basis.
