A few weeks ago we embarked on a special project intended to honour and pay tribute this ANZAC Day to all those who have served in both times of conflict and peacekeeping operations.

From Monday 4 March we invited people to join us in knitting, crocheting, or making felt poppies and donating these for an installation in the Golden Centre.

Today, we have counted a whopping 2,428 poppies that immensely talented and wonderful members of our community have taken the time to create for the display.

As a result, our little mall has been transformed into a fitting environment for people to visit, take a minute to think of those who have experienced times of conflict and leave a message in a Book of Remembrance next to our Lone Soldier, Jack.

Take a look at the photos above to see the steps taken to bring the display to life in-centre.

This incredible contribution of red, white, purple and black poppies also means that we will be donating $2,428 to the Dunedin RSA Welfare Fund. ($1 for each poppy made).

Please may we say a huge thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who has made this project possible - we could not have done it without you.
